Vice-President: Monica Pena currently works for a
locally owned, family business Escobar Construction, LLC. Her husband and Monica started the company 10 years ago.
She enjoys being a resource of knowledge and bridging connections from different businesses and organizations.
Monica is involved with League of United Latin American Citizens. She is also an active member of: Austin Young Real Estate
Professionals, Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and National Hispanic Professional Organization. She has been
honored with the Young Hispanic Professional Austin Association member of the Year award in 2009 for
her service and participation in professional developments events and volunteering in community service projects.

Co-Director:
Cindy
Valdez grew up in El Paso, Texas and moved to Austin, Texas in 1998. She currently works for the
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and attends Austin Community College to work toward a Bachelor of Business Administration
degree with Texas State University. Cindy is active in the local community by volunteering for Meals on Wheels, State Employee
Charitable Campaign, and supporting the Capital Area Food Bank. In her free time she enjoys dancing Salsa,

Social Director:
Araceli Brown is originally from Brownsville, TX and currently works for PPD, Inc. as a Manager in their
Clinical Data Management department. She earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M
University. Araceli is also a 2007 Leadership Austin Emerge Program graduate, and proudly volunteers and/or supports
the Austin Baptist Chapel Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels, the American Red Cross of Central Texas, World Vision and the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic Lab. She enjoys movies, the challenges
of half-marathon training, and is an avid salsa and country/western dancer.

Community Director:
Jennifer Ramos is a La Vernia, Texas native who received
her bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin. Jennifer is active in the local community, supporting
organizations and charities such as the AFLAC Cancer Center, Habitat for Humanity, YHPAA, and serving as a catechist for St.
Louis Catholic Church. Currently, she is a District Sales Coordinator for AFLAC and manages a team of 12 sales associates.
In her free time she enjoys traveling, running local races and skiing.

Fundraising Co-Director: Yahaira Quezada
is a native of the Dominican Republic and a toxic tort litigation attorney in Austin, Texas. Yahaira
has always been actively involved in community development and service. Inspired by a humble upbringing and
the challenges her family and community have faced, she strives to help her community better itself through education
and unity. She is committed to the idea that education opens doors of opportunity and every person who wishes to cross
those doors should be able to find the tools and motivation in his/her own community.

Public Relations
Director:
Vanessa L. Morgan Valdovinos earned
her degree from Texas State University in Health and Wellness Promotion and interned with Department of State
Health Services:Center for Policy and Innovation; Center for Internal and External Affairs; and Center for Program Coordination. Vanessa is a bilingual Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and currently works for
St. David's Foundation as a health educator. Vanessa is also a 2000 Leadership Austin
Emerge Program graduate and is active on the Student
Health Advisory Council for AISD and currently serves as the Health Services Chair. Vanessa
is also a member of Austin's Hispanic Outreach Task Force, Health's
Angels, and serves on the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Austin (YNPN) Programming Committee.
She enjoys spending time
with her Grandfather and working on genealogy.

Treasurer:
Christin Alvaradogrew up in Edinburg, Texas. She graduated from Rice University in 2007 with a degree in
Psychology and English. While at Rice, Christin coordinated the America Reads and Counts tutoring program and a week of service
for incoming freshman called Urban Immersion. She moved to Austin shortly after graduation and began working with campus and
community programs for the non-profit organization Austin Partners in Education. Christin has also worked on the planning
committee of Feria Para Aprender, an education fair for the Spanish-speaking community, for the last two years. Christin is
involved with the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, the St. John's Community and School Alliance
and the Austin Stone Community Church. Once a week, she tutors with the College Readiness program at Lanier High School. Christin
enjoys live music, wandering around South Congress, and trying new restaurants.
